Spring Trip 2017

– Spring Sneak Preview Sojourn with Lots of Flowers and Art –
Philadelphia Three-Day Trip  • Tuesday, March 14th – Thursday March 16th–

Experience spring early this year with an art-and flower-filled trip to Philadelphia. Highlights include a private tour of the Philadelphia Flower Show, a visit to the Philadelphia Museum of Art, including the exhibition American Watercolor in the Age of Homer and Sargent, and tours of Longwood Gardens Orchid Extravaganza and greenhouses, and the New York Botanical Gardens’ Orchid and Herbarium Exhibitions.

Our luxury motorcoach will depart from the RJD on Tuesday morning. Enjoy a picnic lunch on the bus en route to the Philadelphia Museum of Art. We will have a private behind-the-scenes tour and experience the American Watercolor exhibit at the PMA before checking in to the Kimpton Hotel Monaco. The luxury hotel is located in the historic Old City neighborhood, within walking distance of great restaurants, across the street from Independence Hall.

On Wednesday we will tour the PHS Philadelphia Flower Show, the nation’s largest and longest-running horticultural extravaganza. This year’s show, Holland: Flowering the World, will explore the horticultural stories and innovations of the Netherlands, from windmills and delicious cheeses, to Dutch landscapes and tulip fields. We will experience all of it without the crowds, on a private tour, followed by an excursion to Longwood Gardens that afternoon.

We will visit the New York Botanical Gardens on our return trip to New Bedford Thursday afternoon. There we will focus on two special exhibitions: The Orchid Show: Thailand and What in the World is a Herbarium? Lunch will be served on the bus during our trip back to the RJD.

The cost is $995 for double occupancy, $1,250 for private room, and covers transportation, accommodations, all museum and special exhibition fees, and boxed lunches to and from Philadelphia. Please book at your earliest convenience to ensure availability.
