Guess Who’s Coming to Dinner?! Join us November 16 – 19, 2017
The tables are set to celebrate, and you are invited! Guests of honor for this year’s tablescape show house event at the Rotch-Jones-Duff House & Garden Museum include Audrey Hepburn, Jane Goodall, Paul Revere, Mother Nature, Tom Brady, Julia Child, James Audubon, Beatrix Potter and Jack Frost, among other notables.
More than 30 talented design teams–including amateurs and professionals, garden clubs, museums, and students from Greater New Bedford Vocational High School–will celebrate the time-honored traditions of hospitality and entertaining with their tablescape designs.
This year we celebrate the 5th anniversary of this event notes Director Kate Corkum. “We are delighted to have such a variety of talented and enthusiastic participants. Some designs will be historic and elegant, such as in the dining room where the Garden Club of Buzzards Bay will showcase traditional table settings for the Rotch, Jones and Duff families. The Mattapoisett Woman’s Club/Garden Group will incorporate the museum’s grand piano into their Liberace display, no doubt giving expanded meaning to the term ‘entertaining’.”
Two complimentary Celebrate demonstrations will be offered with admission at 9:30 a.m. on Friday and Saturday. Christine Decas will create several floral arrangements with her demonstration entitled Set the Tone for a Celebration with Flowers on November 17th. The following morning Rachael Sirois will present Winter Arrangements for the Mantle and Table. Reservations are required for the demonstrations (508-997-1401) as space is limited. All Celebrate guests are invited to enjoy mulled cider and goodies in the Winter Wonderland hospitality tent on Open House Days.
Celebrate kicks off with a Gala Preview Party on Thursday, November 16th from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. followed by three Open House Days on Friday, November 17th and 18th from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., and on Sunday from 12:00 noon until 4:00 p.m. Tickets for Open Days (November 17 – 19) are $20 in advance; $25 at the door. Tickets for the preview party are $85 each and may be purchased here.
Customized holiday wreaths designed by the ladies of the Garden Club of Buzzards Bay can be ordered at this event or by contacting the museum directly. They will be available for pick up at the museum the first week of December.
