The Rotch-Jones-Duff (RJD) House & Garden Museum invites you to attend two very special musical programs, offered as part of the RJD Music in the Parlors Series on Sunday, March 24th and Sunday, April 14th. The parlors of this historic whaling mansion provide a unique setting for an intimate and memorable musical experience.
Opening the series on March 24th at 4:00 are violist Scott Woolweaver and pianist Janice Weber in a program entitled “Romancing the Viola.” Scott is one of Boston’s go-to violists who performs regularly with the Boston Pops Esplanade Orchestra, Opera Boston, and chamber groups throughout New England. He is a member of the Boston Composers String Quartet, the New England Piano Quartette, Boston’s Handel & Haydn Society, Boston Baroque, and he performs annually at the Rocky Ridge Music Center in Estes Park, Colorado. A champion of 20th century music, Scott has premiered numerous works for the viola, many of which were written for him.
Joining Scott is highly acclaimed pianist Janice Weber. Janice has played throughout the United States, Europe and China with solo performances at Carnegie Hall and the White House. She is a member of the piano faculty at the Boston Conservatory and the Boston Conservatory Chamber Players and she is a contributor to the Musical Times (London), Clavier, and other music publications. Their program will feature the music of Max Brunch, Rebecca Clarke, Brahms and Hans Sitt.
On Sunday, April 14th Janice Weber returns to the RJD for a solo “Spring Recital” performance. Her recital will include an invigorating range of composers including Liszt, Brahms, and Fauré. Ms. Weber’s easy manner and wonderful rapport with the audience add a very enjoyable element her performances. She enjoys sharing insights about the composers and their music, as well as technical aspects of the compositions performed.
